Happy New Year!

Sat Jan 2, 2010, 6:06 PM
Its the end of another decade, what did you guys get out of it in your personal experiences? I can't believe we are in the "teens" now in this new century (2010-2019). Then, it will be the new roaring twenties. :) Hopefully not the exploding twenties with that meteor headed our way, that is, if we even make it past the mysterious 2012 stuff...

Ninja Turtles 25th Anniversary

Tue Dec 8, 2009, 1:21 AM
Did you know it was the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 25th Anniversary this month? I grew up iwth the 1987 cartoon series but you can read the original comics online at the official ninja turtles website, here's a link: [link]

What are you favorite memories?

On a completely unrelated note, ever watch a movie which has things that happened but are never explained sufficiently or touched upon again in the movie? I hate that. I watched the 1990's Lord of the Flies movie today and a couple or so things pissed me off, ((maybe you literature/movie buffs can help me out) warning spoilers ahead but it shouldn't mater since its an old movie.

First its starts of immediately with the characters being stranded on the island but they are floating in the water, you never get to know anyone before hand, they just immediately start with the disaster. the only adult seems to be a pilot or whatever who has a head injury. First his is shown covered up and lying down like he is hurt, but later on he is shown standing up all healthy looking and uninjured telling some kid that everything will be okay. Later on hes back on the ground like he was before (I thought there were two different pilots but I guess that isnt the case) and then scurries off into the night for no reason (delirium maybe?). Later they find his clothes next to some rocks and then find his body in a cave? Why? Why wouldnt he stay with the other people for survival and take care of them and ends up here for no reason?

Also some kids spot a helicopter to get help from, but that guy just keeps flying too far away out in the ocean? Um...the kids arent gonna be on the ocean, try flying over the land maybe?? Later, there is a storm and the helicopter is still flying around, suddnely an explosion happens but then they cut quickly away to the trees being blown over and some kids runing for saftey. UM...what about that explosion? It happened so fast, I dont know if the helicopter crashed or something exploded below it or a fire suddnely started but its never talked about by anyone.

Ive thought about it and whens the last time youve seen a movie with explict violence against children? Or children KILLING other kids? Just because the main cast has kids doenst mean its going to be a kids movie! This movie creeped the hell out of my mom, and didnt appreciate the downer ending either. Well, i guess Ill make sure I dont complain or boss anyone around if Im stranded on a desert island or Ill get a boulder dropped on me by someone in my own group. Man this movie bites.

I havent read the book since high school so can anyone tell me how similar or different the two are?

Blacklisted?

Wed Nov 25, 2009, 8:56 PM
Funny story today, my Mom tries to go get her hair done but the hairdresser says to her "You wouldn't like it anyway" and doesn't bother doing her hair at all. Have you ever heard of this? Man, you cant say anything offhand anymore or people will think you are a bitch.
It makes me think of that Seinfeld episode where Elaine goes to the doctor but he writes her down as being a difficult patient and refuses to give further treatment. She goes to other doctors around the city but word gets around and she cant get treated anywhere. Hilarity ensues.
I joked around with my Mom that maybe she's been "blacklisted" from all the salon stylists in the county. Probably not true, but we all had a good laugh.

I Hate Chess

Thu Oct 29, 2009, 7:05 PM
I've tried to like chess, I really did. But I realized that I just suck at strategy games of almost any kind. Especially against the computer. I can play against a computer on the lowest difficulty setting and still have my ass handed to me epically, many times. Apparently I have to go below beginner phase and play computers who are braindead, or people who don't know what they are doing at all. I even lose at Tic-Tac-Toe for crying out loud, lol. Dang it, is it wrong to hate something cause your not good at it? I think not.

There, I feel better. ;)

Do I feel fat to you?

Tue Sep 29, 2009, 7:42 PM
Ever heard anyone (girls mostly) comment off hand that they "feel fat"? Im not sure thats even possible realisitcaly and it sounds inane and kind of offensive. Now Im not saying that aren't any of us who haven't felt vain at least once, its understandable but there's more behind this saying than meets the eye. Let me explain.

You never hear a guy say he "feels fat", he may be sad that he is fat or he doesn't like being fat, (actually most guys just look in the mirror and think they are totally awesome and need no improvement and go right back to stuffing their faces. but lets assume guys actually care about how they look when they are not being silly) but they never say something like he "feels fat", it just sounds silly and seems like if you were saying, "I feel like Im retaining more gravity than usual today". Im fat but I dont particularly "feel" that way, its just...there.

Now, onto why I feel that the way some girls feel about themselves I find offensive, you see that negative self image you guys are so used to touting around WAY too often just because you are feeling emo that day is actually demeaning and insulting to people who are actually fat. See, you may feel a little off, but it makes fat people who hear it offhand feel like garbage, like they are less than worthy of humanity or respect. Especially when it comes from weight-consious girls or especially anorexics (OH NOES!) whom I have no mercy for, cause they think that being fat is the worst thing ever in existence. Gee, Im SO sorry that my weight reminds you of your own frailties. I think youll understand that we cant indentify with your low self-esteem when you've jsut destroyed ours.
How about some respect for others around you?

Also most of you girls who think you are fat, you're not. No, seriously you are NOT FAT. YOU ARE CURVY. Women are supposed to have curves, not look like they are starving! MEN LIKE CURVES. Who would have figured huh? When a guy tells you you still look hot, take it honestly without thinking there's any guile behind it. Thank him sincerely as well, don't be a complement whore.

OH, and don't say Im a "fetishist", I'm not into super grotesquely fat women who are endangering their health and get money displaying themselves to freaks on websites for positive attention. I believe that normally curvy plus size women can be healthy and even pretty, and shouldn't have to feel that they are worth less just because of how they look or how someone thinks they should look. Wheres the photo galleries of these women?

So, stop "feeling fat" and just be yourself. Preferably a more fun version that will join me while we stand outside of a gym window eating a bucket of ice cream while pointing and laughing at those people inside that seriously need to eat something.
